Triage News : Two Ulduar Ten Teams
Posted by Suelyn on Thursday, June 04, 2009 (02:36:17) (64 reads)
Last night saw Triage field two Ulduar ten teams at the same time for the first time. it was very interesting to see the guild spam while achievements were collected.
Team Adorea are to be congratulated on the guild first Flame Leviathan +1, while Team Khellus took out the prize for the most achievements in one night with Shutout and Shattered.
Well done all - it is great to see the friendliness and support of each team for the other.
Orbital Bombardment
Present: Adorea, Azif, Dafuzz, Terrybull, Creed, Lisandra, Zaral, Zerious, Suelyn.

Triage News : Which Mob do you hate most, and why?
Posted by Suelyn on Tuesday, June 02, 2009 (14:12:31) (73 reads)
There once was a RAM in AV
who charged, dismounted and stunned me
I turned around fast
with a big typhoon blast
and roasted his carcass with glee
The Fuzz.

Triage News : Sartharion +1 and Malygos.
Posted by Suelyn on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 (01:56:28) (69 reads)
With the patch this week and a few guildies under the weather with flu, gaping holes where teeth were and various other reason for not being able to be totally nerdy and play with us; Triage went on a rampage of some older but still hard instances.
Among other things, these first time kills were recorded.

WoW Forums : Jewelcrafting Nerf Incoming
Posted by Makiah on Saturday, May 23, 2009 (01:50:51) (239 reads)
Article taken from WoW.com
Original Link
Bornakk just announced on the forums that Jewelcrafters are about to see a new nerf, and as a result, people are already beginning to weigh the benefits of switching to a different profession for min-maxing, or working out how they are going to re-itemize their gear.
| Bornakk wrote: |
| In the next major content patch we will be removing the prismatic quality of the jewelcrafter-only Dragon's Eye gems. Like other gems, they will have to match the socket color to receive a socket bonus. When this change occurs, players with qualifying jewelcrafting skill will be provided a yet to be determined amount of Dalaran Jewelecrafter Tokens as compensation. |
(...)
The JC-only Runed Dragon's Eye offers +32 spell power, and currently fits into any socket, conforming to meet the necessary color requirements. This is compared to the +19 spell power that the rest of us folks get from Runed Scarlet Rubies. While Jewelcrafters will still be able to use these gems, they won't be able to stick them just anywhere.
(...)
Of course, there is no need for panic. Patch 3.2 may not be the epic gem patch, meaning that we may yet see buffs to the Dragon's Eye gems that have not yet been announced.

What is a progression raider?
Posted by Suelyn on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 (02:35:45) (52 reads)
Not everyone is a progression raider. Not everyone raided in vanilla WoW and yearns for the return of twelve hours farming per week, twenty hours raiding and falling asleep in Molten Core. Things change and WoW has changed too. However, the basic concepts are still there. You get loot from killing a mob. You get better loot from killing a boss. The harder the boss, the better the loot (excluding pinatas). To kill bosses, you need a group. To kill hard bosses, you need a raid.
To kill really hard bosses, you need a raid of progression raiders.
Why make a point about the difference? Because going along to an instance and down three to five bosses with ease is very different from going to an end game raid, learning new strategies, working stuff out especially for your group make up and wiping time and time again while you learn HOW to kill him.
Learning how to kill a boss can vary. Naxxramas was cleared in vanilla WoW and the strategies for each boss is well known. So while the raid was new to many guilds, the known strategies just needed to be implemented. Google search was your friend. Ulduar is a very different kettle of fish. The bosses are completely new, the few strategies that can be found are untested by time or different raid make ups. For some trash pulls and bosses, there isn't even a favoured strategy as yet. What works for one guild is not as likely to work for the next.
This means that each guild raiding Ulduar at this time needs to be skilled, inventive and innovative. They need to be able to think outside the box and come up with ideas that may work for them. Even more, the raid leaders need to be open to suggestions from the raid and willing and able to steer the discussion along to keep it focussed and short enough that it doesn't send people to sleep and yet covers all the aspects of the strategy suggested so that everyone knows what to do. Obviously the discussion takes longer in a 25man than a 10man. The raid themselves need to be eager to try new things and accepting of the fact that they will wipe many times while learning new bosses.
No one suggests that you should flask or use elixirs for progression raiding. If you wish to because you want to give it your best every time, that is great. Food buffs should be taken, they are cheap and easy to use. Every raider should be proactive in keeping themselves alive first. Every raider should have 450 First Aid and should bandage when a heal doesn't seem to be incoming. Two ticks of a bandage can be the difference between another spell cast or death.
For Triage, we have some people who fit the mold of progression raider. These people are ready for the raid each raid night, they are farmed up and have their health pots, mana pots, elixirs and flasks. They have their food buffs, their bandages and their good attitude. They have gold for repairs and accept the we will wipe many times trying the new bosses. They are willing to try and try again each time looking for the breakthrough that means we can beat the encounter.
They do not complain about it wiping or look to blame someone each wipe but actively try to reason out why we wiped so we can prevent it next time. They do not whisper the officers with requests of trying other bosses because this one is too hard. They do not log out after three tries and never come back. They do not afk unannounced in raid and make 24 people wait five minutes for the next pull. Progression raiders are there for the hard times, they are there for the wipes, they have a quick joke about the spectacular deaths and they keep trying on through to the end, when the boss is downed, the loot is being rolled on and the sweet, sweet feeling of well earned Success.
Are you a progression raider?

Triage News : 10 ways to make your GM love you.

1 Be active on the forums. Good communication is necessary for any type of guild, and forums are the easiest way to do that. Being active on the forums means one more person posting, and the more active they are, the more motivated others will be to post. And you don’t just have to post serious things like responses to strategies or class theorycrafting. Start a funny youtube or picture thread, a forum game, or even a make fun of [insert that guy/girl everyone loves to pick on] thread.
2 Don’t just log on for raids. Level alts, play in battlegrounds, run instances, chat on vent- and encourage guildies to join you!
3 There’s nothing wrong with criticizing unfair rules or situations handled incorrectly. After all, we’re people too, and we all make mistakes. But pick when and how you do it carefully. In guild chat, forums, vent during a raid? Absolutely not. Privately and in a constructive manner? Definitely! Constructive feedback from the guild is good- it’s how we know we’re doing things right.
4 Similar to #3, if you have an issue with a guild mate, keep it private and mature. If it can’t be handled between the two of you without getting heated, go to an officer.
5 When you make a mistake or cause a wipe in a raid, immediately own up to it. Don’t point fingers, and don’t try to hide. It’s called taking responsibility for your actions, but more importantly, it saves us time trying to figure out what went wrong. Imagine trying to keep up with 24 other people, and having to troubleshoot between boss attempts. That’s valuable time, and not just your raid leader’s time, but yours too! Use it wisely, and help out!
6 If you know of something going on, such as a member talking of transferring, a member ninjaing in a pug, etc, tell an officer. It’s not ratting someone out, it’s doing the responsible thing. There’s nothing more irritating than a conversation that goes in circles because you can’t name names, and besides that, nothing gets solved that way.
7 Help bump the recruitment thread. Seriously! I love people who help me do this.
8 Let an officer know if you can’t make a raid. There’s nothing wrong with missing a raid. There is if you’re a no-show.
9 Talk, don’t be a social wallflower! I’m not saying nonstop as that can get pretty annoying pretty damn fast. But don’t be afraid to try to get involved and get guild chat going if it’s dead.
10 Cyber with the officers and give them gold and free consumables. Just kidding. Well, I’ll take the gold- just mail it to me!

Triage News : This week in Triage
Posted by Suelyn on Sunday, April 05, 2009 (12:21:37) (49 reads)
Another week of raiding for Triage, marked by the HORRIBLE times we had to raid because of daylight saving changes. The GMT+8 people were all rushed off their feet Thursday, trying to make raids while the Eastern seaboard were sipping Red Bull and searching for the toothpicks to hold their eyes open.
However, even with the reduced raid times, we still took out all of Naxx and handed around some nice upgrades. This week we will be attempting Malygos again.
Sunday also saw the first ever Real Life meet of Triage guild (members only link) - most of the Perth contingent got together at the Parkerville Tavern and had a decent pub lunch. It was much fun meeting you all and putting faces to names.
Finally, I just want to link in this thread in the general forum as it is one of those few and far between times when we find that WoW isn't totally full of retards and this is a post to give you back your faith in people. Enjoy.

shacknews: 'Progressive Percentage' Item Drop Mechanic
Posted by trismegistus on Monday, March 30, 2009 (09:29:31) (105 reads)
Former World of Warcraft lead designer and current next-gen Blizzard MMO director Jeffrey Kaplan today detailed a behind-the-scenes system of drop percentages secretly added in the WoW expansion Wrath of the Lich King.
The system, called "progressive percentages," was cribbed directly from Blizzard's own Warcraft 3, which used it for critical hit mechanics. It relates to how and when quest items drop from creatures--an important issue to all WoW players.

World of Matticus : Yes You Can Multi-Box with Battle Net Account Merging
Posted by trismegistus on Sunday, March 22, 2009 (22:25:08) (77 reads)
If you have multiple accounts, you can merge them all under one login name (which is the E-Mail address of your choice). Doing so means that when you login, you’re not using your WoW account name anymore.
Instead what happens is you login with your email and then you select which account you wish to tap into. All the characters will remain on their existing accounts. Yes, multi boxing is still possible since you can pick which accounts you want to log into.
